First there was the underground railroad, a vast network of people who helped fugitive American slaves escape to the North. Then there were Oskar Schindler, Marion Pritchard, Raoul Wallenberg, and a few others, who helped hide and/or rescue Jews being hunted by the Nazis in Europe.
Today, people living in the United States without permission are feeling increasingly hunted and others have stepped up to help them in various ways.
