Vallejo police investigate series of robberies using app

Vallejo police are investigating a series of armed robbery using a smartphone application.

Within almost a day, police were dispatched this week to two similar reports in north Vallejo.

The first one was reported at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Mini Drive, where officers contacted a victim who told them the robbery happened during a private transaction facilitated by the iPhone app OfferUP, police said.
