George Hunter spent most of Saturday night digging through garbage cans in downtown Vallejo, looking for the box containing his family history that was stolen out of his car during the Mad Hatter Parade.
The Sonoma resident said he had brought the 100-plus years of family documents, photos and mementos to surprise his son for his birthday, as the son, Max Hunter of Vallejo, is working on the family genealogy.
