Local lawmaker floats bill to close rape sentencing loophole

State Assemblyman Bill Dodd (D-Napa) was one of three lawmakers to introduce a bill Wednesday aimed at closing a sentencing loophole discovered following the controversial Stanford rape case, Dodd's office announced.

Assemblymember Evan Low (D-Silicon Valley), and Sen. Jerry Hill (D-San Mateo and Santa Clara), joined Dodd in introducing AB 2888, "in response to the shockingly lenient sentence given to Brock Turner by Judge Aaron Persky in the recent Stanford rape case," the announcement said.
