Putting a face on a fatal Vallejo crash

Mindy Cooper Grenke said Vallejo has never been on her radar before, but suddenly the city looms large in her consciousness.

Grenke's father, David Cooper, 81, of Colorado, was hit by a car here last week and died Tuesday without ever regaining consciousness, she said.

World travelers and adventure lovers, Cooper and his wife were part of a group of longtime friends who pick somewhere in the world each year, rent a big house and stay there together for a vacation, Grenke said.
