Students at American Canyon Middle School were briefly evacuated Thursday after smoke was reported in the gym.
American Canyon police said the disruption was not caused by a fire, but rather was due to malfunctioning sound system equipment.
Students were instructed to leave the building and stand outside on the school's sports field while emergency crews responded to the incident.
