Due to the rash of vehicle vs. pedestrian crashes since the beginning of the year, the Vallejo Police Department is launching a stepped-up pedestrian safety enforcement operations on Friday, Lt. Michael Nichelini said in a news release.
The new effort will focus enforcement on collision-causing factors involving motorists and pedestrians, with routine traffic patrols directing efforts to trouble spots and special targeted patrols deployed to crack down on drivers and pedestrians who violate traffic laws meant to protect everybody on the roads, he said.
