With its U.S. operation based on Mare-Island, the France-based Alstom and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency have signed a two-year $14.5 million extension contract for an inventory control program, called Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI).
This will help the agency improve fleet availability, which is currently composed of 151 light rail vehicles, 26 historic streetcars and 40 cable cars, requiring a continuous supply of spare parts and inventory from a variety of vendors, Alsom officials said.
