A health alert was issued for Vallejo-based Ghiringhelli Specialty Foods salads with chicken meat products, due to concerns about possible Listeria contamination, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Tuesday.
The alert was issued over concerns that these products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, though a recall was not requested because it is believed that none of the products are still in stores and all are past their "Use by" dates, officials said.
