Brentwood man arrested in American Canyon with hundreds in stolen items and a weapon

A Brentwood man was arrested in American Canyon Thursday trying to shoplift from Walmart, and was discovered to have hundreds of dollars of other stolen merchandise and a concealed dagger, Police Chief Oscar Ortiz said Friday.

After a call from Walmart officials just before 5 p.m., that a man was trying to leave the store with some $800 worth of merchandise without paying, police arrived and pulled over the man who was driving away and who was later identified as Daniel Herbert, 25, of Brentwood.
