A new city job classification passed with a 4-1 vote Tuesday despite opposition from some unionized city workers and a mayoral candidate.
The Sustainability Coordinator position, which will pay some $84,000 annually, including benefits, came before the council in August and met with resistance from Teamsters union reps and rank and file, prompting a re-working by city staff.
