Newspaper articles about a band of Native Americans seeking to build a casino in Vallejo have mischaracterized the tribe's motives and members want to set people straight, a tribal spokesman said.
In an op/ed sent to the Times-Herald, Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians Chairman Gabriel Ray said the tribe is entitled to establish a homeland and build a casino in Vallejo because present-day Vallejo is part of the tribe's ancestral lands.
