With the departure Tuesday of The Cape Borda (AK 5058) from the Suisun Bay Reserve Fleet, the last of the National Defense Reserve Fleet non-retention vessels will have left the area, Department of Transportation officials said.
The ship, which is scheduled for dry-docking at Mare Island Dry Dock, brings to 57 the total number of ships that have departed the fleet site since October 2009, when the Maritime Administration initiated an effort to improve the surrounding environment and clean up the Fleet, officials said.
