Benicia council to grapple with Measure C surplus

The city of Benicia will soon face a fiscal challenge: What to do with all the money a new sales tax is bringing in?

Voters passed Measure C two years ago, adding a one-cent sales tax to local purchases. So far, the tax has generated $700,000 more than anticipated, with a projected $4.4 million dollars coming in this fiscal year, Economic Development Manager Mario Giuliani said.
