Bus service to, from Mare Island being reconsidered

SolTrans officials said they know public transportation is needed on Mare Island, but the form it's been taking hasn't increased ridership to the level needed to sustain it.

As a stop-gap measure, the SolTrans board extended the Mare Island Route 9 for a second time to allow staff the opportunity to explore options for public transit service on and off the island, and provide the public the opportunity to explore Mare Island through the summer and into the fall, they said.
