A huge percentage of Vallejo's convenience and liquor stores are in low-income neighborhoods, which tend to be light on grocery stores, experts say.

Because of this, many residents wind up buying meals and snacks from stores that carry few healthy options, increasing the incidents of obesity and the problems associated with it, like diabetes, heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure and breathing problems, Solano County health officials said.
