Vallejo center lends a steadying hand to local vets

Vietnam veteran Charlie Robinson, Jr. said he's not sure what he'd do without his service dog "Shuga," or where he'd be sleeping, if it weren't for the Veterans Resource Centers of America, now with an office on Mare Island.

Founded in 1971, the nonprofit center has only been in Vallejo for just under two years, at 1000 Azuar Drive, said Robin Minutello, a nine-year Coast Guard veteran and a caseworker with the agency.
