American Canyon city, high school students and Napa County partner to plant trees

AMERICAN CANYON >> The city is teaming with the Napa County Resource Conservation District and American Canyon High School to plant more than 200 trees around town in the next three years, in support conservation and environmental education, officials announced.

At the March 7 City Council meeting, when officials proclaimed March 7-14 as California Arbor Week, students from Christy Vough's American Canyon High biology class provided a presentation on the many benefits trees provide a community, including increasing community attractiveness and property values, reducing heating and cooling costs, the "urban heat island effect" and greenhouse gasses, improving air quality, protecting and purifying limited water resources and providing wildlife habitat.
