Removal of osprey nest on Orcem property sparks outrage

Naturalist Ralph Pericoli knows his ospreys.

He, along with other bird enthusiasts, are excited that the large birds of prey are finally building nests and raising young in the Bay Area for the first time ever, beginning in 2003.

Pericoli is a Golden Gate Raptor Observatory expert who monitors the nests of these dramatic shore birds in Vallejo each week, carefully taking down notes about their numbers and behavior and making sure they haven't been moved or otherwise molested.
